Attention Grabbing

The composition of adventuring parties is often balanced upon specific roles (that an individual might... "play" into). The similarities are many between adventuring and sporting and their participant optimization via specialization; offenses and defenses with differing positions to be filled.

Conflict can occasionally be too hectic to get into a proper position; times when the wrong "aggro" is drawn, the fast break was speedier than expected, the enemy has the element of surprise, the ball is fumbled. The line between being on the attack or having to focus on protection is often thin and alternates rapidly.

It is in these moments that the ability of your teammates or party members to react and quickly FIND their optimum (albeit possibly temporary) role is of greatest impact. Reacting to the flow of conflict-- knowing when to push the advantage or to fall back and regroup-- is what makes for successful encounters and winning outcomes.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and surrounding ourselves with those that cover the places we are most flawed while lending themselves to highlighting the things that make us special creates the greatest opportunity for excellence. Finding those others that will complete us-- make us seem mightier than we could ever be alone-- allows us to face adversaries and challenges with a ferocity and pride that trumps our ability to self-inspire.

We are best when we fight for each other.
