The Right Assembly
I just learned a former “Council of Consensus” into which I’d placed a great deal of time and emphasis (but have now… outgrown) is making an effort to ban the grouping of participants. Their mindset is that-- in this age of “gridlocks” and feuding parties-- they should chuck out the formation of opposed teams entirely. It’s an interesting solution.
It’s also short-sighted and incredibly frustrating.
The thing about guilds, houses, and coalitions is that they seek new membership. In order to participate in their many tests and elections, they need bodies-- and if they intend to WIN, they need the very BEST persons to fill their slots.
Not all of us naturally pursue station or office. Many of us resist the perceived vanity. But it is something else entirely to be ASKED to serve. To be CALLED to action.
To assume otherwise is to leave the decision making to those who simply crave power, instead of those who seek glory-- those who serve victory over ideals.
Today a tip of my hat to those who truly United, those Forces for Change, those who sought Ignition, those who Connected, and all the other many fantastic voices they brought to the table-- my own included. Rock and Chalk to you all.
